Government offices
OK.. so I had started an entry last Friday, but I got interrupted.
Let me quickly summarize the rant: Why the hell are government office buildings the most depressing and stale environments? I spent the many hours of my last week in the shithole they call the DMV and that other once called Social Security (my mom lost her wallet, which she later found). They really need to expend some money and make these places more welcoming. Hire some interior decorators or something. And the people that work there… most seemly to be shabbily dressed in sweats (ok.. maybe not.. but something baggy that gives that impression), and need some customer service training. They should hire some bank people to consult. Teach them how to decorate, dress, and work with people. Banks aren’t the most exciting thing, they’re very business-like and proper, but they don’t seem so damned depressing.
My second rant: Did I mention that the Motorola T720 doesn’t uses a “standard” hands free jack? That’s great and all, but that means I don’t get a send/end button on the hands free. So to answer a call while wearing the hands free I need to flip it open. Once it’s open and I’m connected I can flip it closed again. But when I need to hang up, I need to flip it open, hit end, and flip it close again. You can actually voice dial without opening it, but if you get somebody’s voicemail, you’ll need to flip it open again, and hit end to hang up on it (and then flip it closed). All of which is pretty difficult while driving (and impossible while driving and wearing it on the holster). Luckily, they realized this or something, and their newer phones support a send/end button (while retaining support for the standard jack). However it seems like there are only 2 hands free sets that support this (a normal version, and the improved version of it). And of course this One-Touch hands free is only available (at least what I could find) from Motorola. Oh well.. no instant gratification.
Oh yeah.. since I actually seem to have entries now, I should probably get that past archives thing and search working. Not that anybody reads this stuff.
