Benchmarks Revisited and more
Well.. so I go over to my girlfriend’s apartment, and on whim I try benchmark XML Lite again (I had done the original benchmarks at her place). Much to my amazement I was able to replicate the original results. I tried to figure out what was different (since I was performing this on the same laptop I’d as all the other benchmarks). I use WEP at home, while she doesn’t have WEP enbled (yeah, yeah). So I figure maybe there’s some funky driver issues that are reducing performance (I don’t know.. it’s a stretch. Nothing else feels slower, let alone nearly twice as slow as my Java benchmarks are running).
Fine I decide that, I’ll go home and run the benchmarks with the card remove, and off a fresh boot. I do this, and I get results that are similar to my previous ones and nothing like my original results. Doh! I guess I can cross off wireless card from my list of external influences. Bleah. That said, I think with these last minor tweaks I’m done working on XML Lite for now. I really should move along now.
And more.. I’d mucked about with Yahoo! mail, playing with their HTML editor. I thought that was pretty cool so I googled around and found some information on it. Found a nice “free” one (htmlArea) and have hacked (really no work at all) it into my poster. Very cool. Granted I don’t really do that much “prettying” up of my posts, but this does make it much easier. Really it does.

Hrmm.. it adds a little bit more whitespace because of <p> instead of <br>, but I can deal.
