My Motorola T720 and GPRS

I have a Motoroal T720 (as mentioned previously). I’m also paying for GPRS at $6.99 for 1MB of data month with Cingular. WAP works fine. I can read little text pages. I can download little .gif’s. I can download little MIDI ringtones. In fact, I can even download little Java app.

But.. the Piece of Crap phone won’t work with it’s built-in email program, or networked Java MIDlets. I’ve tried a bunch of settings to no avail. Many people on the “Developer’s Alliance” program have been asking about how to get it to work without any avail. I’m extremely unhappy that my phone cannot use networked Java MIDlets. Because, that was one of the main reasons I decided to drop a bunch of money on it.. in order, to test some networked Java MIDlets I was working on.

If I had to guess, I suspect that Motorola’s implementation was already kinda sketchy (as witnessed here) and then with Cingular’s customized firmware (with the “Web Sessions” menu option removed) it’s totally b0rked.

Argh. In fact I don’t know of anybody that has gotten a J2ME MIDlet working on a Cingular T720. Somebody prove me wrong. And tell me how you did it.
