BookCheck

I just wrapped up my latest personal project. It ran late, but I still finished it relatively quickly (given that I have very little spare time).

BookCheck is a little utility for your Java capable phone (or other device) that allows you to look up information on Amazon using a book’s ISBN. Primarily, so you can see how people rated the book, and to see a couple of reviews.

Usually the scenario that plays out is something like this: I read about a book online, I go and do some research to make sure the book is decent/pretty good, and check to make sure it isn’t too expensive, if I’m feeling impatient I’ll head off to the book store. Of course, they won’t have the book I’m looking for… but they’ll have similar books with similar names. I’ll read the back, and flip through it, but unless it’s really bad, it’s difficult to pass judgement on the book. And it’s those times that I’m wishing I could look the book up online to see if it is a worthy alternative to the original book. Of course, now that I have my little program on my phone I can do just that!

My next project is something along the lines of EtherPEG and Driftnet, but for Windows. Because that’s what my laptop runs.

Anyways.. I’m moving. Where? Down the street from where I’m currently staying. It’ll be lots of fun. Right. If you’re reading this on Saturday, you obviously have nothing to do, and should come help me move.
