The Motorola A630
I’ve mentioned the Motorola A630 in regards to how it contains many traits that would make it the perfect phone for me.
It is now the dawn of its arrival and there are a couple of reviews out. The CNET review is the most complete with many pictures and a video. Gizmodo has a review as well.
From these new pictures (and video) it seems a little thicker than I imagined, but it’s hard to tell without picking one up in my own hands. Physically it has all the “necessary” features except for some sort of memory expansion. I could have dealt with relatively low res display (it is higher than my Treo’s, but would have preferred something even higher).
But where it is sorely lacking is in the software department. Couldn’t that have put a decent (end user programmable) OS on there? It would have been sweet with Symbian. Or PalmOS. Instead you have this cool hardware that basically only lets you text message or email with their limited client.
Oh well. They were close. Maybe another year or so. I wonder if PalmOne would be willing to go in this direction with the Treo’s formfactor.
