Java 1.5 or 5
It’s been a while since I last made serious use of Java. Though not quite that long, maybe when 1.4 was first coming out.
Recently I was setting up a webapp with Tomcat and I elected to use Java 5 (1.5, whatever). And I’m pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness. Previously there always seemed like there was a slight lag (just running ant or something). But they seem to have done a good job reducing start up time. Either that or it’s a placebo effect.
