Nerd Pants

I recently picked up/ordered a pair of ScotteVest Hidden Cargo Pants (because they were on sale). I was a big fan of the Docker’s Mobile Pants (I think that’s what they were called), but I believe they are no longer manufactured. I tend to carry a lot of crap in my pockets and unfortunately I can’t wear cargo pants everyday. And I’m not quite at the point where I need to or am willing to carry a Man Purse.

The SeV Hidden Cargo Pants have something like 12 pockets. Apparently there are bigger geeks out there than me, because I don’t need nearly all that room. My every day carry consists of: my glasses in their glass case, a packet of tissues, a SpacePen, two sets of keys with the random key chain crap, a pocketknife, my wallet, and my Treo. Honestly, the only real issues are my glass case and a case of bulging pockets. Now wearing my nerd pants, there is plenty of room for everything so there is less bulging. But I feel bad (a little), because it seems like most of the pockets are empty and going to waste. Oh well.

I like the magnetic snaps and how the hidden pockets are accessed better than on the Docker’s. The Docker’s had zippers and were difficult to operate with one hand. The magnetic snaps are also kinda cool to play around with. We’ll see how well my credit cards hold up though. The pants are suppose to be Teflon treated as well, but I really can’t vouch for the benefits after a day of wear.

Stitching looks like just single stitching, so we’ll have to see how well they hold up. The material is also lighter than my Docker’s, probably better suited for nicer climates. They are non-pleated, and a little on the baggy side. They should have no problems passing outdoorsy hiking dress codes to casual with sneakers to kinda dressy with a button up shirt dress codes. However they’re very clearly not slacks.

I’m pretty happy after one day, and will probably order a couple more (of the other colors) while the sale is still going.
