Golf Class

We had thought about taking golf lessons recently. And, well.. we are taking golf classes now at the local community college. You can’t beat the price, so I can’t complain too much.

When we first moved in, we got a class catalog from Diablo Valley College. We found a beginner class on Saturday mornings. Perfect. It was half a unit, which cost us something like $10 each. We had never been out to DVC, and had a vague notion of where Pleasant Hills was.

Right before the first class, I mapped it out on Google and my GPS and found it to be some 20+ miles, taking more than half an hour to get to. This happens to be the longest commute of my life. So now every Saturday morning, after waking up late I am hauling up the 680 at some 90+ miles per hour (this is an exaggeration for the law enforcement types) for nearly half an hour trying to make it to class on time (or so). I used to joke that I never took my car out of third gear. Now I get to keep the revs high in sixth gear.

Another weird thing is that there seems to be fresh roadkill each week. Last week, I didn’t see anything, and driving to class I didn’t see any this week either. But on the way back, I saw to deer on the left shoulder within 100ft of each other. When I was younger and innocent (like in college), I just assumed the red streaks were spilled paint. I didn’t actually think there was that much blood on the freeways that frequently. I know better now.
